Hello again, friends! I get a lot of questions about my poms and how to make them.
Well, you asked for it, so here it is – a video tutorial for how I make my XL poms! Thank you for your patience, it’s tough getting a kid free morning around here to plan a video tutorial! Here’s what you need…
Materials:
- Clover USA XL (4.5″) pom pom maker
- Super bulky yarn (I use Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick)
- Sharp scissors
- Darning/tapestry needle
- Hot glue gun (optional)
- A little bit of OCD (also optional)

Do you generally wrap 8x for the smaller pond also? Mine have always looked anemic, and now I see why! Thanks for the tutorial 🙂
You’re welcome, Jenny! I usually wrap about 5 times for the smaller (2.5 inch) pom pom maker and roughly 6 times for the 3 5/8 inch pom pom maker (until there’s a little resistance when you try to close it). 🙂
Thanks for your great tutorial on making a pompom look nice and full! Mine have always looked dinky.
