The Rosewood Scarf

The Rosewood Scarf pattern has been in the works since December, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you today!

She’s a reversible cabled scarf (yes, I said reversible!) knit entirely in fisherman’s rib. The combination of fisherman’s rib and wide alternating cables make for a sublimely squishy knit that you won’t want to put down.

Can we talk about this yarn for just a minute? I used Handmade Home Fibers Classic Worsted in this beautiful colorway Rosewood (discontinued).

It’s a gorgeous chocolately brown, with just a hint of mauve undertones. It is so soft, and I’m a huge fan of that stitch definition!

I was thrilled at the chance to team up with Ashleigh from Handmade Home Fibers for this design (you may also know her from her crochet and knit blog Sewrella!).

Ashleigh has put together a beautiful kit for this pattern with all the yarn you’ll need, which you can find here! It’s on sale for 20% off this week only!

Notes: With fisherman’s rib, every stitch is essentially worked twice, so what may look like 8 rows of knitting is 16 rows. It is highly recommended to utilize a row counter or pen and paper to keep track of progress. Only RS rows are charted. All odd numbered (WS) rows will be worked the same as row 2. Cables are added on every 16th row, either to the middle or to the sides of the scarf.

Using the long tail method, loosely CO 52 sts.

Row 1 (setup row): sl1k wyib, p1, *k1, p1. Repeat from * to end of row.

Continue to chart or follow written directions below. Place a locking stitch marker to indicate RS (row 2) of work.

Row 2: sl1k wyib, p1, *k1B, p1. Repeat from * to end of row.

Rows 3-15: Repeat row 2.

Row 16 (middle cable): sl1k wyib, p1, [k1B, p1] 8 times, C16B, [k1B, p1] 8 times, k1B, p1.

Rows 17-31: Repeat row 2.

Row 32 (side cables): sl1k wyib, p1, C16B, [k1B, p1] 8 times, C16B, k1B, p1.

Rows 33-47: Repeat row 2.

Row 48: Repeat row 16.

Rows 49-63: Repeat row 2.

Repeat rows 32-63 until scarf measures 84 in (213 cm) when lightly stretched.

Bind off loosely in k1, p1 rib. Weave in ends and steam block, if desired.
